Improving Productivity

Friday, December 3, 2010, VIENNA, Austria

Symena has released a new version of the market leading automatic cell planning (ACP) Capesso™. Capesso™ 4.11 maintains Symena’s lead in automatic cell planning by delivering substantial speed improvements so that it continues to deliver the highest productivity of any ACP for radio network planning engineers.

"With this release we have been focusing on squeezing the last drop of performance from our already fast algorithms in Capesso™," said Dr Martin Toeltsch, Chief Technical Officer of Symena. "One area we have been able to pick up speed has been by improving communication between core components. Another is an improvement in the techniques for parallelization. This is a big plus if you are running modern multi-core processors. Combined with native 64 bit processing this is what you need to solve big planning challenges."

Testing indicates improvements in processing time of around 20% across a range of scenarios with all other factors being held constant. On very large projects the speed improvements are considerably better. The actual observed speed improvement on any particular project depends on a number of factors.

Some of the other functionality added in this release include

  • Full integration and support for the latest version of Forsk's ATOLL 2.8.3;
  • Full integration and support for the latest version of Mentum Planet 5.2.1;
  • Greater user control over memory management; and
  • Improved support for non-Latin characters.

Symena will present and exhibit at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain, 14/17 February 2011.
