Client Installation

The CodeMeter protection keys need the CodeMeter runtime to be installed. The runtime is installed automatically with our ACP product.

Server Installation

Any computer with the CodeMeter runtime installed and a server licenses protection key plugged in can become a server for the local network. If you do not want to install the full ACP product on your server, you can also install the runtime separately. Run CodeMeterRuntime32-4.10c.exe for 32bit operating systems or CodeMeterRuntime64-4.10c.exe for 64bit operating systems. Please ask your support for these applications.Once you have installed the runtime, you have

  • Plug in the dongle
  • Open CodeMeter Control Center by double-clicking on the CodeMeter icon on the taskbar
  • Click on the WebAdmin button
  • Select the Configuration tab
  • On the Network tab, enable the check-box “Start as Server”
  • Click on Apply

License Updates

In order to update a license, you need physical or remote desktop access to the computer to which the key is connected. The license update files have the extension WibuCmRaU. Launch the CodeMeter Control Center, which can be found in the start menu and the system tray. Switch to the Licensing tab, select the correct key (if multiple are connected) and press the License Update button, then press Next. From the 3 available options, select the second (Import license update), press Next, then select the update file and press Apply.

Please note that updates must be applied in the correct sequence. If you receive an update that you do not apply, you cannot apply the next update you receive without first applying the older one. If you are unable to apply the older one, please contact your support for further instructions.

Multiple Keys

If the application detects multiple keys (for example, a local key and a network key), you will be prompted to select one. The selection box displays each key's serial number and name. You can remember your choice as a default for the future.

You can choose the name of your keys yourself. To do this, launch the Control Center as described under License Updates above. Switch to the Hardware tab and select the dongle you want to rename. Press the Change Name button and enter a new name.

Using CodeMeter protection keys across subnets

The CodeMeter dongles and protected software are communicating using TCP and UDP port 22350. For clients in one subnet to find a server dongle in another subnet, there are two possible solutions:

  • Forward port 22350 between subnets, or
  • Tell CodeMeter Control Center where to find the server

Configuring CodeMeter ControlCenter on each client to find remote servers:

  • Open CodeMeter Control Center by double-clicking on the CodeMeter icon on the taskbar
  • Tell CodeMeter Control Center where to find the server
  • Click on the WebAdmin button
  • Select the Configuration tab
  • On the Network tab, click on the “add” button for the server search list
  • Enter the name or IP address of the server
  • Click on Apply
